We know you are out there wanting to help in any way you can, especially if it is doing what you know best. Sewing. We have received numerous calls and emails from customers asking and sharing information on making medical masks as the supplies dwindle at hospitals, health care facilities, nursing homes, etc. While we don't have all the answers or solutions, we just wanted to reach out and give you a few resources so that you can sew masks if you wish.
For those of you who know Lynne, our in house educator and sewing guru, she was feverishly working this past weekend to find the best medical masks to give to her family members on the front lines in the healthcare field. She shared with us a few great videos from The Fabric Patch (see below) and another pattern from craftpassion.com (see below) that she was able to make and also feel confident they would be protective.
Another type of mask is one that has a pocket for a filter of some sort. This pattern provided by craftpassion.com is another type of mask that can be used for protection. It is a bit faster to sew than the other. If you have a Cricut or Silhouette machine, it includes files for that too!
Click on the below link to see some best practices for making and donating masks. This list was provided by medical students at a hospital in North Carolina just as a guideline, but please check with your donation site for any other requirements they may have.

We know there is a dizzying amount of information out there about making masks, from good people just trying to help. We urge you to make sure that your masks will be accepted by those whom you wish to donate. At this time Quiltique is not collecting sewn masks. We are researching who would be able to accept these donations and will reach out again once we have a few resources for you or if we are able to be a collection site.
Also, check out groups on Facebook such as We Maskateers or Maskapalooza for other patterns, ways to help and more information.
We are continuing our curbside and online order pickup Monday - Friday 10am - 2pm. Please fee free to place your online order and pick it up here or just give us a call during those hours. Use code SEWATHOME for 25% off* your online order.
